Chinese Foot Massage
The Chinese-Style Reflexology

Reflexology is a massage technique
for the hands and feet. It is based on the theory
that there are reflex points in the hands and feet
that are linked to the various glands and internal
organs, and that stimulating these reflex points can
improve the functioning of the glands and organs.
Reflexology is used to relieve stress, improve
circulation, stimulate the nervous system and induce
deep relaxation.
A Chinese Foot Massage starts with a
foot soak and immersion of feet in a wooden barrel
of warm water containing a sachet of specially
formulated Chinese herbal medicines. The feet are
the n washed and dried and a thick layer of lotion is
applied to the feet and calves. Pressure is then
applied to each reflection point on the feet and,
where there are corresponding physical problems, the
receiver may experience some slight discomfort
and/or the therapist may feel some blockages in the
area. A back or shoulder massage is sometimes added
to the procedure which is intended to be extremely
relaxing and usually lasts about an hour.
Chinese Foot Massage is suitable for
anyone who is interested in his or her general
well-being. It may help with certain ailments but it
is not a cure for them. It is generally accepted
that this therapy can provide some benefits and it
has no side effects.
Health benefits are not entirely
proven, but many claim foot massage works. It is
said that it helps the body to get rid of toxins,
improves circulation and body functions, and even
improves memory.
If nothing else, a foot massage will
help melt away the day's stress. Your feet take the
biggest beating throughout the day. They have to get
you where you need to go and hold up your entire
body weight. People tend to overlook their feet.
However, hurting feet may just render a person
immobile.
With many new age ideas filtering to
the west, foot massage has also become more popular
in areas like Europe and the United States. It is a
natural way of treatment after a long hard day. The
health benefits may be disputed but it never hurts
to try it out and see what benefits it may hold for
you.
